Starfish (Year 1 and 2)
Welcome to Starfish (Year 1 and 2)
Mrs Murray and Mrs Symon teach the Year 1 and 2 children in the Starfish Class and Mrs Cassaniga and Miss Pryke are our Teaching Assistants.
Our topic for Term 4 is 'Changes'. We will be reading the book 'Tadpole's Promise' by Jeanne Willis and using this as a basis for learning explanation texts about the life cycle of a frog and a butterfly.
In maths, Year 1 will be learning about 3-D shapes and addition and subtraction and Year 2 will be learning about multiplication, division and statistics, including creating and interpreting tally charts, bar charts and pictograms.
In science, we will be looking at plants, in geography we are studying UK geography and in whole class reading we will be looking at books by Roald Dahl. Look at our curriculum overview below to see more details about these and other subjects. There are also some additional games and videos that you can look at at home to support your child's learning.
For Book Week (week beginning 2nd March) we will be looking at Roald Dahl as our inspirational author. We will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and doing some work based around this book.
