Everybody Matters

FLO (Family Liaison Officer)

Hi my name is Lyn Harris I am the Family Liaison Officer here at Seabrook Church of England Primary School. I have worked in Education for over 35 years, firstly as a TA then as a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) for 22 years, 15 of them at Seabrook.

Throughout my career in Education I have completed numerous amounts of training but over the last academic year I have broadened my knowledge by completing three new challenges, I have completed a course to become the Senior Mental Health Lead for the school. A Rainbows facilitator/co-ordinator (Helping children and families through bereavement and loss) and finally an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (an ELSA).

My job at Seabrook is to work with parents/carers, children, families and the wider community.

I can be your link between home and school and can offer help, support, information and guidance about outside organisations that may be beneficial to you and your family.

If you have any concerns at home or school with your child/children or any other matters then please don’t hesitate to contact me. We can meet for a chat over coffee and try to resolve your concerns.

I can help parents and carers by organising:

Support at meetings, Attendance advice, Counselling, Healthy Eating, Signposting to professionals, Support with Housing, Support with health problems, Adult Education, Support with Transition

I can help your child by organising:

Interventions such as Circle Time, 1:1 sessions, Attendance, Transition work, Health and Hygiene, Puberty Talks, Mediating, Friendship groups.

I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be on the door on those mornings. You can contact me on 01303 238429 or 07436582932 in school hours or email me flo@seabrook.kent.sch.uk any time.

Treatment from a pharmacist

Pharmacists can suggest treatments that do not need a prescription for a range of conditions.

Most pharmacies can also offer prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP or make an appointment. This is called Pharmacy First.

Conditions they can offer prescription medicine for are:

  • impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
  • infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
  • earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
  • sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
  • sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
  • urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years)
  • shingles (aged 18 years and over)

If you are not within these age ranges, a pharmacist can still offer advice and support decisions about self care treatment with over the counter medicines, but you may need to see a GP for treatment.

If you go to a pharmacy with one of these conditions, the pharmacist will offer you advice, treatment or refer you to a GP or other health professional if needed. They will also update your GP health record, but your information will not be shared with anyone else.

Most pharmacies can provide prescription medicine for these conditions but contact them before visiting to check.
