Operation Encompass

We don’t have lists of rules at Seabrook, instead the children are taught to be considerate to all members of the community – we do things the Seabrook Way.

The Seabrook Way…

…is to be polite, kind and courteous, at all times
…is to respect and care for others and their property
…is to always try to do our best
…is to keep our hands, feet and objects to ourselves
…is to forgive others and to forgive ourselves

Safeguarding

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

  • This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request.
  • We provide opportunities for young people to express their views and feelings which is supported through the school’s use of the complaints procedure, The School Council, as well as accessibility of all staff including, senior managers, and Child Line information and guidance that is readily available throughout the school.
  • Seabrook Church of England Primary School provides training to staff in relation to safeguarding and protection of young people that will be provided at the intervals laid out in national regulation and guidance.
  • Seabrook Church of England Primary School has recruitment procedures that support the safeguarding of young people, as laid out in the school’s recruitment policy and DBS Clearance procedure and national guidance.
  • Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads include Liz Carter (Executive Headteacher), Jez Carter (Head of School, Sue James ( Head of School),  Lyn Harris (Family Liaison Officer) and Ellie Geering (SENCO).The school governor responsible for Safeguarding and  Child Protection is Mrs L Timmins.

Rewards

The most frequently used and highly effective reward for good behaviour will be praise from members of staff and other children. Children are rewarded for a variety of achievements including good work, greater effort, or being helpful, and can earn kindness buttons  or have their name added to the merit book.

Bullying

Bullying, both verbal and non-verbal, is not tolerated in Seabrook Primary School. Pupils and staff at the school have the right to feel welcome, safe and happy, and it is seen as the responsibility of all to prevent bullying. The school actively supports Anti-Bullying Week.

Sanctions

If a child does something unacceptable, or persistently misbehaves, they will be helped to make up for their actions. This will usually involve a loss of play times and may result in a telephone call or letter to parents/carers.

First Aid

A number of school staff are trained in first aid and paediatric first aid  who will administer basic first aid as required.
